International Women’s Day – Invitation to participate

Notice: Please try to post your IWD entry on March 8. The idea is, that on IWD all over the blogosphere will pop up Yellow recipes. Thank you.

fiordisale asked me to organize with her a special event for International Women’s Day. March 8 is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.

International Women's Day

We don’t want to celebrate the political way, instead we would like to invite you to prepare some food. Food connects people, so we would like to invite you to cook or bake something yellow for this special day. Yellow because on this day in Southern countries there is the tradition to give sprigs of bright yellow Mimosa flowers to women. The flowers are intended as a sign of respect and also an expression of solidarity with the women in their support for oppressed women worldwide.

So this year, instead of the Mimosa sprigs, we will make yellow food! It can be whatever you like: pasta, meat, fish, fingerfood or a whole menu as long as it is yellow.

We are looking forward to see your recipes!

How to participate:

Cook/bake something yellow, take pictures (if possible) and blog about it on Saturday, 8th March 2008
(feel free to write your post in your mother tongue)

Send an email to kochtopf(at)gmail(dot)com or fiordisale(at)gmail(dot)com including
– your name
– your blog’s name and your blog’s URL
– the recipe name and the post’s URL
– your hometown/region and country

Don’t forget to link back to one of the annoucements.

Last day of submission is March 9.

We try to do the roundup before March 11.

p.s. Men are more than welcome to participate, too!

  1. Wonderful! I was just thinking about making a post for Women’s Day the other day. I didn’t even know of its existence until I lived in Rome a few years ago. Thanks for organizing! I think it is a great idea!

  2. Our neighbor’s mimosa tree is hanging over our wall – scenting the entire yard. It’s wonderful.
Now, to think yellow….hmmmm It would be easier in summer…..

  3. Hola querida amiga:

Gracias

  4. I am asking because of this line: „blog about it on Saturday, 8th March 2008“. That is my first doubt; the second one: so you don’t mind if I post my recipe in… Polish? I really doubt :D
