Lex Culinaria opend the Summer Barbeque Challenge and is asking for some new BBQ-recipes. It’s true, I’m also preparing always more or less the same BBQ dishes. So this was the first time I was baking pitta bread on the grill. It’s delicious and quickly done!
Pitta bread
makes 4 pitta
150 g wholemeal flour
1/4 ts salt
some fresh herbs (like oregano, thyme, cilantro), chopped
1 ts dry yeast
1 1/5 tb yogurt
1/2 tb olive oil
~0,5 dl lukewarm water
Mix all ingredients and knead until the dough is soft and elastic (about 5 to 10 minutes). Let rise the dough in a greased bowl, covered thightly with platic wrap, until doubled in bulk (about 1 hour).
Divide the dough into 4 pieces. Flatten the pieces and strech carefully to a diameter of about 10 cm. Let them rise again 30 minutes. Place them on the hot grill. Bake until the dough is browned, about 3 minutes each side. Take it away from heat and let them grchill another 6 minutes on lower heat.
Serve with grilled vegetable or/and meat, home made hummus and orange chutney .
Quelle merveilleuse idée!! J’avais déjà vu dans un forum de pain que quelqu’un avait cuit sa pizza au barbecue, je trouve ces idées géniales!!
Vivement que je puisse sortir mon barbecue!!
