Finally I baked the first bread for the World Bread Day’06 – After Hours Party. I have choosen Andrew’s Walnut Bread. Since we have a German food blog event with the theme chestnut, I replaced a part of the walnuts by chestnuts. Also I did a smaller loaf, and I had to bake it longer about 40 minutes.
The result: Delicous! It reminds me a chestnut bread I bought years ago in Geneva.
Chestnut-Walnut-Bread
300 g White Flour
60 g Dark Rye Flour
8 g Fresh Yeast
8 g Salt
250 g Water
60g shelled and crushed walnuts
100 g choped chestnuts
Instruction you find on Andrew’s Blog.
Next time I should do the whole in the middle bigger. It was closed after baking.
If you would like to join the party, more information you find here.
Filled in hole or not it looks wonderful; I shall have to remember the cuts you have done round the edge for next time I make it.
That’s a beautiful bread that I’d love to eat! Superb!
This is a delicious looking bread – I’m going to have to get in on the after-party!
